At a Lexus dealer? I dunno about you, but I sure as hell don’t want to wait around the dealer long enough to watch an entire movie.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I’m sure all of this is nice, if you’re stuck hanging around, but this has to be paid for somehow.

Full disclosure - a long time ago, I worked for a different dealer owned by this group.

A putting green is way different than a driving range.

They have *both* of those things. :)

But they didn’t put a picture of it, I can’t be expected to read.

LOL - I did the opposite, read the list and didn’t look at the pics. I heard a commercial on the radio yesterday, which prompted me to pull the website up. It was the movie theater that struck me more than anything.

This makes no sense, unless its geared toward retirees. And what Lexus isn’t?

Either you have time to kill before or after work or on your lunch break to get your oil changed, or you drop your car off and get a loaner/ride/Uber and continue about your day, and pick the car up when its done if the service is going to take a few hours.

People got shit to do.

At the one I worked at we had:

Full refreshment area (many types of coffee/drinks)

Fresh baked cookies

Fresh popcorn

Fountain drink area

Snack center

Business center (4 Mac computers, fax, copier, etc.)

X box area (3 xbox with a bunch of games)

Lounge (huge TVs and premium leather couches)

Water fall room which featured complimentary massages

Free shaved ice (summer time)

A Dodge dealer needs to have a “driving range” that is a half mile strip of pavement with timing lights.

Now THAT is an amenity that I could support. I’m pretty sure it would pay for itself, too.

Because they ’ ll jack up the prices to pay for this shit, or because Lexus?

“ Yes ” is an acceptable answer here of course.

Bob Rohrman can suck it.

When I was looking for my Fiesta, I had a very specific set of options I was looking for - none, except white paint. The ONLY dealership that had one within 500 miles was his. I was able to look past the $395 black-painted wheels, close enough.

My dealer was looking to trade them a (desirable, profitable) Explorer for their (harder-to-move) Fiesta ST. No problem there, both were up for it.

Except for one thing - they refused to take off their “dealer add-ons.” Floor mats, wheel locks, and a 12" wide black vinyl “racing stripe.” The total for those highly-desirable options? $1100.

Now, I’m sure they put those on the car so they can have room to negotiate out the price when a buyer comes in. But they were turning down an even more profitable, easy to sell car! Who knows. I waited another six weeks and bought a Fiesta that came from a different dealership that was willing to trade it straight off the truck.

Exactly.

Maybe they do cater to a retiree crowd? Although, I know that area (grew up nearby), and there isn’t a big retiree set there.

I’ll wait 30-45 min for an oil change, and use the wifi/TV/coffee while I’m there - but beyond that, it’s gimme a loaner or GTFO.

See, almost all of that makes sense (you lost me at massage), if you’re going to kill an hour or so, and might have kids with you. This seems like overkill.

As techs, we were forbidden to ask for a massage, even when we took our of personal car in for service. I don’t care much for one but I did sneak into the fountain drink both to fill up my jug for free very often lol :]

That’s bullshit. Was that the Ford dealer in Schaumburg? I worked at the Honda dealer, kiddie corner from the Ford dealer - over 25 years ago. I was in parts, and soo many cars would come in and go straight into service to have that kind of crap tacked on right after they came off the truck. And if it was a desirable car (4WS Prelude, del Sol, etc.), they would do all that crap and throw an ADM on, too. If you wanted a deal, you had to be buying a Civic or Accord LX or below, and work hard. They were tough on everything else.

I hate driving by it at night, since the lot is probably the brightest thing in the state and ruins your night vision.

MANY!!!!! My gf at the time worked there as a porter and would obviously sneak me some that were still warm :]

Lol one time she accidentally made some with Skittles instead of M&Ms. Not bad but not too good lol

Is it that bad? It’s been years since I’ve been past there at night. I moved into the city in ‘06, then SW burbs after that.

Doesn’t surprise me, though - even back in ‘91-92 when I worked at the Honda dealer, that place was the crown jewel of his Chicagoland empire.

Yep, exactly. It was easy enough for me to call their bluff and tell my dealer to keep looking.

Plus, my dealer gave me the same trade-in value six weeks (and 2300 miles) later. Can’t really complain about that.
